Welcome to the ultra-remote Ocean House, a 100% Haida-owned fly-in lodge anchored off the rugged, unprotected, and naturally spectacular west coast of Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. Set back from the open sea at Stads K’uns GawGa (Peel Inlet), Ocean House offers a sheltered base from where you can explore lush canopied forests, breathtaking beaches, and ancient village sites. Spend 4 nights, embracing the stillness of this exceptional place, learning how the Haida people have drawn from nature to nourish and heal on this emerald archipelago since time immemorial. For a shorter stay, there is the 3-night Taste of Haida Culture.

Relax at the floating-lodge, tastefully designed to reflect the cultural aesthetics of the Haida people. The 12 guest rooms (two guests per room) feature private ensuite washroom facilities and complimentary limited bandwidth wifi. Standing among towering and ancient spruce and cedar, you will venture deep into the heart of Haida culture. View rare and extraordinary sighting of marine animals and wonder at the ancient and magnificent old growth forests on our guided tours. Art and Culture of Haida Gwaii Itinerary
Day 1 - Wednesday
Early morning — Check in at Vancouver’s YVR South Terminal at 5:45 am and prepare for departure. You will arrive in Sandspit, Haida Gwaii, then take a spectacular 15-minute helicopter flight to Ocean House. A hot gourmet brunch awaits.
Early afternoon — Guided tour and picnic to Kaysuun. Our staff will provide you with appropriate boots and rainwear if required. Upon return, enjoy appetizers and drinks in the lounge or explore the lodge.
Evening Activities — Gourmet dinner awaits with cuisine featuring local ingredients from Haida Gwaii. Enjoy complimentary house wine or select from our curated wine list.

Day 2 - Thursday
Early morning — Gourmet breakfast then pack a complimentary lunch, snacks and drink for your voyage to Ts’aa.ahl (pronounced Joth) to view the remains of this ancient village.
Early afternoon — Back at Ocean House, our guest artist will deliver a class that will give you a deeper understanding of Haida art and culture. Relax, workout, paddleboard or kayak.
Evening Activities — Enjoy a gourmet dinner then take in a scheduled screening of one of our Haida-themed films, with a Q&A after with a cultural interpreter.
Day 3 - Friday
Early morning — Enjoy your breakfast this morning before embarking on today’s trip to the beautiful Ts’uu Guus GawGa (Security Inlet). Discover how Haida people harvested cedar and other plants in this ancient area. Potential wildlife viewing en route.
Early afternoon — Participate in a cedar rose weaving workshop, spend time at the spa or explore more of the inlet by kayak. Then join our guest artist for their second class. In the late afternoon, we will screen another Haida-themed film, followed by a Q&A session.
Evening Activities — Enjoy another delicious gourmet dinner then explore the lodge and surrounding area at your leisure.
Day 4 - Saturday
Early morning — After breakfast, our guest artist will deliver their third class and an opportunity to complete any of your projects.
Early afternoon — Enjoy a delicious hot lunch to either be enjoyed at an adjacent on-shore picnic area or at one of the nearby pristine pocket beaches.
Evening Activities — Long Table Feast, a fitting culmination to an epic adventure with new friends. After dinner, you may choose to relax over drinks in the lounge or recharge in the spa.
Day 5 - Sunday
Early morning — Once you’re finished a hearty breakfast, our team will prepare you for your trip to Sandspit where you will board the flight back to YVR’s South Terminal. Owing to the unpredictable weather of Haida Gwaii, we recommend that you allow a minimum of three hours between connecting flights.

Authentic indigenous experiences are delivered by indigenous tourism businesses located from across Canada and many are members of the Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC).
Indigenous Tourism can be defined as all tourism businesses majority owned, operated and/or controlled by First Nations, Metis, or Inuit Peoples that can demonstrate a connection and responsibility to the local indigenous community and traditional territory where the operation resides.x
